Pool Closing FAQ

Once water temperature stays consistently below 15°C (usually mid-September through October in the Okanagan), it’s time to close. Closing too early risks algae growth in mild fall weather; closing too late risks freeze damage.

Balancing water chemistry, lowering water level below skimmer/returns, blowing out and plugging lines, adding winterizing chemicals, removing and storing ladders/accessories, and installing the winter cover.

No — pools are only partially drained, typically below the skimmer, to protect the structure and plumbing from ice pressure over winter.

A winterizing algaecide and chlorine-free shock are typically used to keep the water clear and prevent algae bloom under the cover through winter.

No problem! We service and winterize salt cells, chlorinators and automated systems as part of the closing package.

Includes water balancing, lower water level, blowing out and plugging lines, removing/storing accessories

Winterizing Chemicals – $60
If you don’t have the chemicals, no worries. We have everything we need.

Replacing Winter Cover – $60
If you want to put your own cover on, no problem.
